Also known as fake grass, artificial grass is a surface made out of synthetic fibres to look like natural grass. It is commonly used in football pitches and known as Astroturf™ Since the 1990's, artificial turf has been used in domestic landscaping as a way of having the green look of grass without the need of cutting or watering. It is also used in commercial applications where low maintenance and mud free areas are required.
It can be used in areas where natural grass would not survive. It is hard-wearing and can withstand more foot traffic that natural grass. Artificial grass does not requires cutting or watering- it will need periodic sweeping or hoovering. Ideal for areas around swimming pools, play areas, low maintenance gardens and roof gardens.
We will strip the current turf off the lawn or take up any shingle etc Any soil needed to be dug up for base will be done at this point. Then an MOT type 1 base will be put down to the required depth and compacted. A layer of sand will be placed to aid with leveling and then compacted. A geo-textile membrane will be placed on top of this to prevent any movement. The artificial turf will then be installed, cut to size, fitted then pinned to a border with joins glued to backing tape. Kiln dried sand will be swept into the grass to unable the pile to stand up right. How to look after artificial grass Artificial turf needs minimal after care. Brush or use a leaf blower/vacuum regularly to clear lawn of debris and leaves. Wash off animal urine or droppings using water and detergent. If the artificial grass appears flat after a while you can brush in kiln dried sand to bring up the pile.
In order to find out how much your installation will cost we will need to know how many square metres you will need to cover. Use our handy Artificial Grass Measuring Guide to find out how to do this.
One of the main reasons why more and more people are switching to an artificial lawn compared to a real one is because of the fact that these are low-maintenance: you don’t need to trim, water, or fertilize these in order to make sure that these look good. Even so, this doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do anything to make sure that your artificial lawn is always in tip-top shape. Because Namgrass make all their own products, they offer their own warranty on their grass.
The main points this warranty covers are UV stabilisation (no fade), the integrity of the products and ‘rot’ i.e. their products will not rot after a couple of years.
